Santa Barbara International Film Festival
As a proud sponsor of the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, TUNNEL donated Digital Intermediate and Post-Production services. This prize package was awarded to the "Best Documentary Film" YES MADAM, SIR directed by Megan Doneman. Tunnel's Post-Production package, valued at $100,000, is the single largest prize awarded to any documentary competition in the United States.
YES MADAM, SIR is a compelling feature-length documentary about the extraordinary life of the first woman to join the Indian police service, Kiran Bedi. She is arguably India's most controversial daughter. A winner of the Asia Noble Prize, she is known to many as the modern day Gandhi. Bedi has has publicly fought high-level corruption, feudalistic bureaucracies and brutal opposition, all of which has come at great personal and professional cost.
When she is reassigned and placed in charge of the overcrowded and notoriously corrupt Tihar Jail, Bedi establishes educational, medical, spiritual and yoga programs for the inmates, again receiving international acclaim for her actions. YES MADAM, SIR follows this remarkable humanitarian for six years, presenting her in the most intimate and revealing light.
Written, directed and filmed solely by Australian filmmaker Megan Doneman.
Academy-award® winning actor Helen Mirren lends her commanding voice as narrator of this film.
Congratulations to all the filmmakers in the 2009 Santa Barbara International Film Festival!
